Why quit

Starting January 1st 2010 and lasting for the entire month, hundreds of Canadians will undertake the challenge to quit a bad habit or take up a good one in support of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The idea is simple: quit a bad habit or adopt a good one – and then ask everyone you know to sponsor you. You can also challenge your family, colleagues and friends to quit something for the campaign, or join a we quit team.

Your kind gesture will assist CAMH in raising vital funding to continue to offer the best treatment, care, and facilities to people in our community with addiction and mental illness issues.

And remember, although the i quit campaign is for the month of January, we encourage you to keep the positive change going all year.

Why should I get involved?

First of all, because it could change your life. It’s a New Year and an opportunity for a new you. Adopting a lifestyle change isn’t always easy, but by making a commitment to the i quit campaign and asking for the support of your friends and family you can achieve your goal.

Plus, this is a chance to make a difference in the life of a client at CAMH, and show your support for people struggling with addiction and mental health issues, who are so often ignored.

How does it work?

Participating in i quit is simple. Here’s what you need to know, in just a few easy steps:

  1. Choose your i quit resolution.

  2. Set up your personal fundraising page at http://www.imaquitter.ca/RegistrationMain.aspx.

  3. Tell your family and friends, and ask them to sponsor you.

  4. Spread the word through Facebook, Twitter and e-mail, and challenge others to take on quits of their own!

  5. Begin your i quit resolution on January 1st, 2010 (or whenever you can start) along with hundreds of Canadians in Ontario.

Challenge your partner, colleague, boss or friend to quit:

  1. Challenge a friend – in person, on Facebook or through email to take on a challenge. Suggest a fundraising goal worthy of their feat. Send a message from our website with your suggested i quit resolution.

  2. They can set up their fundraising page at www.imaquitter.ca. Make a donation to get them started.

  3. Tell your friends and family and ask them to donate.

  4. Spread the word online and in person, and get ready to walk the talk!
